Standard Requirements From our Residents/ Fellow Recruitment, Selection, Eligibility & Appointment Policy

All applications MUST BE submitted to our program through ERAS by October 31st. Supplemental Applications must be submitted by September 30th for consideration with the standard application

In all cases, if the information below differs from the above policy, the Policy will stand as the accurate resource

Applicants must:

  • Have graduated from an LCME or AOA accredited medical school
  • Be eligible to work at healthcare entities in the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee
  • J-1 Visa holders may be admitted to our program, however we do not accept H1B Visa holders
  • Not be listed on exclusion lists owned by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or System for Award Management System (SAMS)
  • Not be listed on the National Sex Offender Registry (NSOPW) or on any health abuse registry

Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must meet pre-employment requirements to be eligible for hire. These requirements include:

  • Completion of COVID-19 vaccination in compliance with CDC recommendations for all healthcare workers or waiver
  • Completion of pre-employment drug screening with results in compliance with Baptist standards

  • Acceptance and completion of the then-current employment agreement. We have provided a copy of our current agreement HERE for your reference. 

Additional Guidance and Application Deadlines

  • Applications must include all standard information including CV, Medical School Transcript, USMLE or COMLEX transcript, MSPE, at least two LoRs, Personal Statement, and ECFMG Status Report if applicable
  • Submission of the Supplemental Application is strongly encouraged
  • Couples Matching applicants will be considered

All application information must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS)

The BMME General Surgery Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) MATCH for all PGY-1 positions

All applicants must register through both ERAS and NRMP.
